We’re pleased to be selected as a featured designer in the @archdigestpro @archdigest directory again this year. Thank you to the editorial team for supporting our work!
This also serves as a sneak peek of a very special kitchen we helped bring to life over at #greenleafpoolparty. To be asked back to this beautiful space was an honor, and we look forward to sharing more with you all soon. @don_tankersley_co @woodcraft.inc @space_design

We’re hard at work on thoughtful improvements to a beautiful, mostly original, 1957 PNW modern home in Lake Oswego. This kitchen study is a reflection of careful modernization and selective materials, lightly drawn from the Usonian color palette. The home’s interior is cloaked in rich wood cladding and expansive glazing (with stunning Mt Hood views!). Our job is to soften the edge between original and new while satisfying the needs of a young, active family. The original spaces provide a strong point of view and we’re more than happy to meet it where it’s at.

Meet Kristi, our operations manager since 2021. Kristi has a minimum of at least three home improvement projects happening at any given moment. From March to September, she spends all of her free time gardening and her dog, Orly, may look like a fluffy cloud but he’s a fierce watchdog! 2025 Highlights: Traveling with Alfred to the island of Kauai and a Bi-annual trip to Yachats with her sister and aunts to hunt for agates.

Jenny, who started the studio in 2009 (the same year Jeff and Jenny tied the knot! Caution to the wind!) had a busy year of travels and celebrations. She was fortunate enough to travel to two regions in Mexico, bookending Mexico City in February and Merida in November with the loveliest group of ladies. She celebrated her mom’s 80th birthday in sunny California, survived a home remodel, and adventured around Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Hawaii and Oregon with Jeff and Sadie. She’s looking forward to adding patina to her new kitchen and enjoying watching Sadie compete in Gymnastics and Volleyball.

Jeff, studio co-owner and principal architect, joined the studio in 2012. This year was filled with wrapping his first new home project in Palm Springs, adventures around Oregon with Jenny and Sadie, remodeling the family home, and a side trip to Maine while visiting friends and clients in New Hampshire. In December, Jeff acquired his license to practice architecture in Massachusetts, opening up more possibilities for design work in New England.
Jordan joined us more recently, moving from his role as an Associate and Project Manager at Holst Architecture. In addition to volunteering to bartend our studio holiday happy hour, highlights of Jordan’s year include lots of camping, many trips to Portland Japanese Garden, and a trip to Mallorca and Basque Country with his wife, Emily.

Say hi to Kristie, who joined our studio in 2021. 2025 was an exciting year for Kristie and her husband, Derek. They welcomed their baby boy, Whitney, and experienced lots of exciting firsts, including Halloween, Christmas, and a family trip (Albeit barely made it through TSA 😬).

Say hi to Reid, who has been with our studio since 2017. Mostly, Reid likes to hang around the house with his family. There’s always a construction project, somewhere between cubbies in his daughter’s room to beds for the boys to a ladies night garage conversion to a storage and grilling structure. Sometimes, the family gets out of the house for a hike in the gorge or to see family in Norway.

Say hi to Colin Stacey. He’s been with the studio for 10 years and graduated with his masters in Architecture alongside Jeff at the University of Oregon. Colin enjoys walking aimlessly through unfamiliar territory, making noise with a variety of instruments and passing time with his adventurous wife and mostly grown up children.

Happy New Year to you all! Wishing for just one fun snowfall in PDX this year ❄️We took this image of our beloved courtyard in 2017 and would love to see a repeat. Isn’t it a beauty?
Over the next few days, you will get a peek behind the studio curtain and get to know everyone who makes the wheels turn and the designs 🔥We look forward to introducing them to our IG community!
Here’s to ‘26!
A recap, an update, and a thank you to our community:
We started this business during the depths of the ‘09 recession, with a parental loan to purchase a single iMac and produced everything from a kitchen table in a rented apartment. Along the way, we’ve grown beyond what we thought possible, learned and re-learned many lessons, and experienced the swing of pure joy and absolute exhaustion. Fast forward 16 years, our portfolio has become increasingly diverse, by design, with projects ranging from rural estates to urban color blocked interiors. Taking on projects with interesting stories, clients, sites, and original bones allows us to do our very best work and keeps our design brains nimble. We’re not one-trick-ponies and we like it that way. Behind the scenes, we have several not-yet-shared projects keeping us on our toes — a new practice facility for one of Portland’s most storied golf clubs, a new home for a legendary video rental store (be kind, rewind!), and a bakery cafe in Boston that you can enjoy in your own home. More on those soon!
As we have evolved, our focus continues to point us toward context and quality. What does the building need, what will help a business or family thrive, who is going to use this place? When do we need to give boundaries and definition to an open floor plan home — most of the time! As we start to wind down ‘25, which has, in truth, been one of the more difficult years in our practice, we are pointing our arrow toward optimism and continuing to do what is right for our clients and studio.
We’ve quietly been updating our website, with several new residential projects showcased and adjustments to make our portfolio friendlier for mobile viewing. We’ve dipped our toes in film documentation (thank you, @gulickcreative!) and are looking forward to capturing a handful of projects wrapping in ‘26. (cont. in comments)
